Drainage and Soil Solutions, Inc. provides drainage structures composed of non-erodible material (schedule 80 pvc) that conveys water from one place to another by intercepting the flow and carrying it to a release point for storm water management, drainage control, or flood control purposes. All basin and associated appendages of the drain systems are watertight and reliable. Usually a backhoe is utilized in this type of installation to allow the install of the drainage piping to a depth safe from damage by normal ground maintenance activities.
Drainage and Soil Solutions, Inc. does not use corrugated piping due to its nature to crack and pull apart underground, creating underground washouts and unwanted surprises. An example: D&SS did a job for a customer that had corrugated piping installed on the downspouts that ran underground through the yard and under a cross- tie retaining wall. The corrugated piping was duct taped together in some locations which is not a sound installation practice as this customer discovered. A few years down the road when the pipe pulled apart and washed out, the soil from under the retaining wall causing it to rot and sag leading to replacement. This process was not detected until it was too late. It was a subtle action with expensive consequences. Corrugated piping is known for developing stress related cracks at the seams and it holds sediment leading to stoppages. Trying to clear a stoppage from a corrugated drain line usually causes damage to the piping. Drainage and Soil Solutions installs only the finest quality drain systems for homes that require a high quality reliable storm water management system. Don’t fill your yard with sub-par corrugated piping that will create future sub-soil related problems down the road.
The (above) pictured drain was installed to receive the roof precipitation through the downspouts and to catch excess ground water. Before the drain was installed, you could float a canoe in the basement of this home after a hard rain! There was a large washed-out area where someone installed corrugated pipe that leaked underground allowing water to flow continuously down through the foundation wall and into the basement. Not a drop is present after a heavy rain now. The drain was installed 5 years ago.
Once storm waters start to eat away around a home's foundation it only gets worse, homes that have yards that slope towards the home, or have poorly graded yards, under most circumstances can be remedied. Sometimes chipmunks add to the problem by boring down around the foundation giving water a place to go. Although we don’t rid your home of chipmunks and other nuisance vermin we do provide high quality storm and flood drain systems to keep the harmful elements at bay. All drain basins are custom designed for each particular application.
